Animations

The animations below are some of my best computer generated works. Please note that some of the work here is repeated in my demo reel one tab to the left. Click an image below to start playing the video.

Tummies

“Tummies” is a short film created by myself and 4 team members for the 2008 summer project (as it is commonly known). Six artists from DreamWorks visited our little lab during the course to help teach us the ropes of film production. We definitely learned a lot from the process and the final result can be enjoyed below. If you're watching closely (and pausing a lot) you might notice an easter egg or two.

Intro Animation for Tex Ags Studios

This project was created for Tex Ags Studios as an intro to their sports clips and video presentations. I used a variety of software including Maya, Photoshop, Mental Ray, After Effects, Premiere, and Audacity. I needed a suprising amount of code to produce this project (approximately 500 lines of code). It was primarily needed to create and animate the lights. Which was a bit easier than animating 140 lights one at a time.

Facial Animation

My facial animation was created for a graduate course. My project was combined with contributions from other students in a complete series of animations where each head answered the question "What happened to your body?"

This animation falls smack in the middle of the uncanny valley; however, I decided I wanted to shoot for photorealism with the project and I believe it developed my talents more effectively. The modeling, rigging, animating and rendering were all completed in Maya. The textures where created from reference photos in Photoshop.

Particle Choreography

Here you can enjoy the complete untrimmed version of the particle choreography on my demo reel. This piece does not have any deep significant symbolism or meaning. Or at least none that I'm aware of. The concept for the software to simulate the sprites came first and the subject matter followed. So perhaps the sparkly faeries are a metaphor for unborn ideas. Their coalescence is then your mind forming and melding them together into a conscious thought.

System of Systems [sunrise]

This is an older project from my undergrad days. It was created using Maya's evil twin brother Max... 3D Studio Max. I created this piece because I had some great animated water textures that I wanted to put to use.

Raytracer Animation

Some amazing animated output from my custom raytracer! Do not fret. You only have to endure it for 3 seconds; as opposed to the months it took me to program and render.
